Well, we continue the journey with two munchkins in the house. Abriella continues to try to find her place in all of this. She continues to be a little bit of a challenge, but it’s getting better. She still adores her baby brother and runs to him anytime she hears a peep out of him. It’s so cute. It’s not him she has a problem with. It’s just the fact that she’s not the center of the universe anymore that’s hard for her. All in good time.

Something I just have to write here so I can remember it because it’s just so funny to me and Stephen. So, Abriella talks all day long. It’s almost a constant dialogue. I try to keep up with it, but it makes me tired! haha! Anyway, she says random things often, where we try to figure out where in the world she came up with such things. Generally, it is something from one of her books, but we just have to make the connection. Several weeks ago…maybe even a couple of months ago…she was helping me with laundry (which she loves to do), and she was looking at a tag on one of the articles of clothing, and was “reading” it. She then says, “forty six.” Huh? Of course, there was no 46 on the tag…but, that’s not the issue. Where in the world did she come up with that number?? So, basically, this is the child’s favorite number. And, if there is any tag to be read, we ask her if there are any numbers on it (because we know what the answer is going to be and it cracks us up), and we always get the same answer…FORTY SIX! And, today, she started saying ten-thirty (10:30). No idea where that came from either. Ok, maybe it’s not as funny to y’all as it is to us! And, another funny thing is when she counts. She skips “four” pretty much always even though we remind her about it. I guess she thinks that’s a useless number! Poor number four!

Colby continues to grow. I think he’s been in his first growth spurt the last couple of days. He’s been demanding food more frequently. I think with his sister, we had gone through about 3 growth spurts by now! HAHA! His umbilical cord stump came off yesterday. It had been hanging on by a thread for a couple of days, and I had almost yanked it off a few times inadvertently. And, I know it’s weird considering what I do for a living, but I totally was grossed out by the idea of it coming off in my hands!! Thankfully, it didn’t!

He’s getting a little noisier at night. Between his little snores and crowing and Stephen’s heavy breathing, I’m getting less sleep. So, I told Stephen that his days are numbered in our room (Colby that is, not Stephen. I’ll just continue to deal with Stephen!). haha! We made it almost 3 weeks with Abriella in our room. We’ll see how long Colby lasts.

I continue to feel good. It’s so amazing to me how I have recovered so quickly from this birth. It certainly is a blessing considering I have another child to take care of. Stephen and I have enjoyed this early period with Colby much more than we did with Abriella. Part of that is because I’m feeling good. Part of it is because it’s a second child and the fact that we somewhat have a clue as to what we’re doing. But, Stephen and I were talking last night, and he said he “felt like we were behind” for about 14 months with Abriella, just trying to keep our heads above water. I had always said I felt like that for at least a year, but I didn’t really know Stephen felt the same way. People have always commented on how “lucky” I was to have her 3 weeks early, but we really didn’t feel that way all in all. It really made things harder for a long time. Strange, huh? Anyway… ‘nuf about that!

Random side note here, totally not related to kids…we’re getting a new dishwasher. Actually, we have it. Stephen is currently installing it. Our other one was becoming less and less effective at cleaning our dishes and it has started making some rather ominous noises lately. So, rather than wait until it completely bites the dust, we decided to go ahead and make the purchase. I’m rather excited about it! Love new appliances!!

We have been blessed with receiving meals for several days from our class at church. That will end in a few days, and I’m really not looking forward to having to cook again! One thing I’m really not looking forward to is venturing to the grocery store with 2 kids in tow. I figure I’ll put Abriella in the cart and then put Colby in my sling. Or maybe I’ll go shopping at night for a little while! We’ll see.

Well, I’ll stop babbling and post some pictures now.

Here are a couple of pictures that were taken by a lady at church on Mother’s Day last week. Not too bad!

Here are a few of the boy:

And, in case you think we have forgotten the firstborn…

Do you think she’s regressed???

Reminder of how she looked when she was a baby…

And, a few months later:

And, for comparison sake between kids, here is Colby on Daddy followed by Abriella on Daddy.

Ok, that’s all for now. I have more pictures to upload, but that’s enough for now!! Have a great week!

Great pictures! 2 at the grocery store is easy. It just takes a little getting used to. 🙂 It never fails though I forget at least one thing on my list every time.

Always love the pictures! Colby seems to enjoy the bassinet.

Great family pictures. Colby looks so huge to me. 🙂 But I say that about all babies now. I think for me to ever think of a baby as “tiny” again it will have to be a preemie and we don’t want any of those! Cute, cute kids.

Cute pics. Colby is already changing! Crazy how they grow so much that first year. Glad you are feeling so well, too!
