6 Month Trivia

What is our little guy doing these days? Well, he’s definitely getting cuter and cuter! But, what else, you might ask? Well, let’s see. (This is long, so many of you may not care to read all of it. You won’t hurt my feelings!).

* He is no longer toothless. He got his first two teeth this month, on the bottom. You can actually see them in his chair picture. So sad! He’s pretty cute with them though!

* Inch-worming and army crawling. We bought a cheap area rug from Wal-mart today because the poor guy hasn’t had much good floor time due to me taking up their cushy playmat for showing our house. He was being placed in the bed or on a big comforter on the floor (we have no carpet in our house). Neither of these are good for learning to crawl.  He really enjoyed the rug! So, he may step things up a notch now. We’ll see.

* Rolling from tummy to back ALL.THE.TIME!! We have to go in and turn him back to his tummy ALL.THE.TIME day and night when he starts yelling and crying, as he won’t sleep on his back. The boy doesn’t even attempt to turn back over while he’s in his crib. I’m sure there is method to his madness! I’ve threatened to leave him there some time and see if he’ll up his desire to learn to turn back over to his tummy. I’ve yet to follow through on that threat and he knows it!

* Not sure of his weight, but guessing around 19 lbs! He has his well-visit on Monday, so we’ll see the official stats then. He is making my back hurt carrying him around!

* Still loves to smile! He loves to look you in the face and smile. So sweet!

* Loves to touch your face and hair and give kisses. For a while now (not sure if this started this month or last), he will get his chunky little hands on either side of your face and then pull you forward and lay big wet kisses on you! He does this over and over! It is incredibly sweet!

* He really just loves to touch faces. If you are holding him facing outward, he will turn his head and upper body around and reach up to touch your face.

* Sitting better and better every day. This is another thing that he hasn’t had much of a chance to work on due to our current house situation, but maybe the rug will help with that. (In case the whole rug is confusing, it’s something that I can roll up quickly and put away. We didn’t buy a fancy one that we could leave out!). He can sit on his own for a while, but he ends up leaning way over to “eat” his feet and will eventually go to his tummy, which many times is actually fairly graceful, which is good. Or, he does the whole fall backwards thing, or he will topple sideways. But, he can sit up very straight for a while (never timed him…)

* LOVES his feet! He has actually taken to sucking his big toe at times. I guess his thumb gets tired sometimes! HA! Even when he’s in a stroller, he will have his feet up in his mouth! He also manages to get his socks off and then continues to chew on them or toss them aside!

* Still has a love of his thumb. He will also suck on his index finger too. So, it’s one or the other…or the feet! He’s primarily a left hand thumb/finger sucker. Very rarely does he suck his right.

* Loves to chew and gnaw on toys. He does very good at reaching/going for toys and grabbing them to put in his mouth.  If we can just get sister to leave his toys alone, he’d have more to play with! HA!

* Speaking of sister, he is really starting to take notice of her more. He loves to watch her as she runs around or if she talks to him. He will just smile at her and reach for her. She’s not too sure she cares for him grabbing her hair though! But, she is really starting to like him more. She’s saying, “I love him” everyday now, which is much better than the, “I don’t like him” she was doing ever so recently!

* Wears 9 months, 12 months, and 6-12 months clothes. I’m fairly certain we are not going to make it to the next consignment sale (in March) without having to buy him bigger clothes! Uggh!

* Still wears cloth diapers. He pretty much wears them all the time now. Really, I only put him in disposables to go church, but I may stop doing that soon.  If I put him in a disposable, he can wear size 3 or size 4. I usually grab size 4 as I think they’re probably a better fit overall.

* Sleeping well at night, except for the whole rolling over thing, but overall, very good. Goes to bed around 6 and wakes 1or 2 times to eat and wakes for the day usually just after 7. Used to be later before the time change!

* Takes 2 naps a day at 9 and 1.  They are getting a little shorter, so we’re able to get out and about a little more as he really won’t go to sleep at other times.  So, if his morning nap is short and he won’t go back to sleep, you might as well keep him up (even if cranky) until close to 1.

I guess I should probably stop this post as it’s way too long as it is! In summary (HA!), our little guy is just one of the sweetest babies! He’s loving and very happy. It’s so sweet to watch him as he smiles out the car window and laughs (at who knows what!), but that’s just how he is. Just seems to enjoy life…unless he’s teething, has croup, or is ready for bed!

WE LOVE YOU, COLBY NATHANIEL! CAN’T WAIT TO SEE HOW YOU CHANGE AS YOU APPROACH YOUR FIRST BIRTHDAY!!

Holy Cow he is big! That is good. Maybe he could share a pound or two with his second cousin? (I think that is how they are related but all these second cousin, first cousin once removed relationships really get me confused. We’ll just call him cousin. :))

  2. Mom/Grandma says:

    He is a sweetie!
