Food for Thought…

Well, after almost 2 months of trying to get Abriella to eat baby food, we finally gave up, realizing that she hated it! She basically refused it. Squash really was the only thing that she sort of ate. It really was more on her than anything else. But, she thinks she’s such a big girl that she’d rather eat tablefood! Yep, that’s right. She likes chicken, roast, pork, bread…etc. All the things that mommy likes!! She just loves to chew on those tiny pieces. She does really well with them too. So, we’ve kind of decided that we’ll just bypass the baby food. However, I got kind of lazy with introducing different foods to her one at a time, and she got a rash on her body, so we figure she might’ve been sensitive to something she ate. But, I’m not sure what! So, we’ve cut the foods out completely and are starting all over again going slow with it so that we can isolate what gave her the rash. She also is becoming very good with her sippy cup. I just give it to her during the day (when I remember) filled with some water and let her play with it. She generally just chews on the spout, which does make water come out, but she likes to get it in her mouth and then let it dribble out! Makes for a wet time. However, today, she actually did it correctly, and was going to town drinking water. We were shocked.

Speaking of rashes, she has quite the little diaper rash! I’ve read that is more common when solids are introduced, because it changes the acidity of their “output.” So, today I was letting her go around without a diaper a few times, which is pretty tricky since she’s so mobile! She doesn’t want to stay on the towels and such that I have out in case she pees. Uggh! But, I think her bottom is getting better. Poor thing!

She continues to be more and more active. She’s now greeting me in her crib standing up too! Good thing we lowered the mattress already! She’s figured out how to use her legs to stand rather than pulling up with only her arms. So, now, she just has to be next to something and she puts her hands on it to steady her, and she just stands up. So, she can stand up at the dishwasher, the shower, on our legs, etc. You get the point. So, she just crawls over and stands up holding on to your legs, and then wants you to pick her up! She’s also cruising more and more. She also love to jump. She will stand on your knees and just jump up and down. It’s hilarious! She just laughs and smiles so much while doing that!

On another side note (since I use this as sort of a baby book for myself), she quit sucking her thumb. She actually stopped right after her teeth came in. I guess she didn’t like the way they felt on her thumb. I don’t know. So, I guess we won’t have anything to take away from her since she also doesn’t take a pacifier. And, no thumb cutting off will be in her future either!

Well, I have other things to say, but I don’t want this to be a super long post, so I’ll make separate posts. But, I will tell you that we did make it alive while daddy was gone. I didn’t particularly enjoy the single mommy life with an 8 month old though! But, we survived, and she was so happy to see her daddy when he returned! So was I!!

Well, I’ll add a couple of pics here for you to enjoy. I’ll post more later.

LOL, we gave up on baby foods with our Abriella also. I love the ‘FREEDOM’ pic of your little cutie! As for the diaper rash, I have found that if I use a snappi and put on just the cloth part of a cloth diaper (no cover), then my little ones could/can do whatever they want and air out with no fear that they were going to soak my floor.

and then, instead of pins, use Snappi’s

They are a lifesaver, LOL. HTH!

  2. Loving the pics…and the previous videos, too! Abriella will need to teach Jonathan how to stand a little better! He’s trying, but she certainly has the edge on him!

Wow!! Once they start moving they never stop. Anyway.
For diaper rash I use this stuff called, “Boudreax’s Butt Paste” it looks gross and smells kind of gross, but it is all natural ingredients and works wonders on a sore hiney. What is really great is it doesn’t sting (like Desitin) when you rub in on them. You might want to give it a try. It usually works in one night for me.
I show Cooper and Kenndall your videos and Cooper always knows that it is Abby!!
