11 Months Old!

A year old in a month!? Seriously, where has the time gone?? Am I the only one that remembers thinking the first child was so much older at this age, whereas, I feel like the second child is still totally a baby?? This line of thinking gets me into trouble though because I’m surprised when Colby does things because I don’t think he should be able to do those things yet. Anyway, he’s a huge ball of energetic boy! Seriously, he can’t sit still. Even when he’s nursing, he’s moving the whole time. That is a bit annoying, honestly. haha!

He attacks things. When he’s playing, he doesn’t gingerly pick up a toy; he pounces on it! He likes to bang things…LOUDLY! This includes items such as his sippy cup–bangs it on his tray, the table, or even his legs (OUCH!). He likes to drop things. He is to the point that we KNOW he knows that it’s something he’s not supposed to do. He will look at you, hold the piece of food or sippy cup out to the side, wait long enough that he knows you see him, and then drops it! Booger!

Loves to throw balls. You can hand him balls or Easter eggs (that we have an abundance of currently) and he’ll chunk them or dunk them into his little basketball goal. He’s actually pretty good at these activities!

Has bonks, scrapes, bruises on him all the time. Is this a boy thing?? I guess the attacking of things would lend itself to injury. Oh, I never did mention that he has also chipped one of his baby teeth. Yep, upper left central incisor is chipped. He did this a month or two ago somehow. We aren’t sure when it happened. We just noticed it one day. When you see him next, look, and you’ll see it.

He’s sleeping all night, every night, now. After we decided to ignore him, he stopped waking after a couple of nights of being sad that I wasn’t coming to see him. Well, occasionally I will hear him talking at night. Love that he sleeps all night now!

He’s about to pop another tooth through (#8), so after cutting a bunch at once, he did take a little break. He’s been without the matching bottom lateral incisor for over a month. It’s peeking through though now.

Growing like a weed. He’s hitting his head on the kitchen table all the time. I can tell he’s getting taller and seems chunkier to me, too! Not sure how much he weighs.

Does not like to be told “no.” He gets VERY sad with a very dramatic-I’m dying-you’re killing me type of cry. It’s just pitiful! You can even get this response if you just say, “Colby?” when he’s getting into something. Very ridiculous!

Still in all cloth diapers. 🙂

Wearing 12 month clothes and now we are transitioning into 18 month clothes.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, he loves his sister! She may beat up on him, but he still always wants to be with her! When she goes into her room and closes the door, he gets sad. He goes and stands up at her door and beats on it and cries. She does sometimes let him in and then closes the door with both of them in there. I love to hear them laughing and squealing in there. I allow this for a few minutes and then I go in as I don’t really think a 2 yr old and 11 month old should be behind closed doors unsupervised for long! I have yet to share the pictures that I took the other day when this lack of supervision led to a big, blue mess (come back another day and i’ll have those pictures up. i know, you’re on the edge of your seats!).

I’ve already mentioned his eating and drinking habits in a recent post. Nothing has changed there. Doing good.

Loves to hang on things! Like he’ll stand and grab the toy bins and then lift up and hang there with feet off the ground. He also does this on the edge of the kitchen table. And, today, he was in Abriella’s room and he was on the side of her bed–he actually started climbing up the side. Both feet were about a foot off the ground and on the frame of the bed while he held on above that. Yikes! I’m afraid that toy bin is going to be on top of him one of these days if it’s not anchored to a wall. Thankfully, I don’t think it would really  hurt him if he did pull it over on top of himself. Not that I want to test that theory!

EATS EVERYTHING that he’s not supposed to! I’ve mentioned this before, but I think the problem has compounded lately. Seriously, I am digging things out of his mouth all day long! Doesn’t help that there is an older sibling that leaves things on the floor like stickers, barrettes, rubberbands, etc. I changed his diaper the other day to find a shiny heart sticker in his poop–lovely (thanks, mom for that sticker! HA!). I’ve pulled coins, barrettes, stickers, various types of foods, paper, contact case lids, and numerous other things from the child’s mouth. You name it, he’s probably had it in his mouth. Uggh.

That is about all I can think of for now (as always, I lose steam in these posts!). I’m sure I’ll think of more later! Basically, we have a very sweet boy named Colby that totally keeps us on our toes! Can’t imagine life without him! Happy 11 months, baby boy!

Here are his pictures in descending order! You can click on them to make them bigger.

More posts to come. Yes, I know I haven’t done Easter or anything like that yet. We are slightly busy as we are closing on our house on Friday!! Can’t wait!

Yes, it’s definitely a boy thing! And I remember well the days of all of Emily’s little bitty items being put in little brother’s mouth. Don’t worry–one day he will stop doing that, but that will mean he’s growing up, so it will be a little sad, too.

Good luck on your closing; we are so excited for you!

I find all kinds of things in Ryans mouth, too. I’ve yet to find anything in his poop, but I laughed out loud when I read about the heart sticker. And Ryan also likes to throw and bang on everything! I didn’t realize it until you said it, but it’s totally true that you think the 1st child is so much more grown up than the 2nd at this age. Colby’s so cute and getting so big!
