And The Bad Parent Award Goes To…

Stephen and I! So, I mentioned how Abriella was taking bad naps again and not sleeping well at night. Well, that became worse with her waking every 1-3 hrs at night. UGGH!! We were thinking she was in her 9 month growth spurt (which I think is partly true), but then it finally dawned on us…she might be getting some more teeth! DUH! She’s had those bottom 2 teeth for almost 3 months, so we had kind of given up hope of her ever getting any more. Stupid, I know. (And, note, I believe that babies are continually “teething” basically from 4-6 months until they have all of their teeth. Anytime someone asks if she’s teething, I say, “Always.” haha). We gave her Motrin one night, and lo and behold, she slept great! Poor baby was in pain! Her top gums have been swollen for a while, but one side has been especially swollen (well, we finally looked to see, so no telling how long it’s been like that). Tonight, we see one of those top ones peeking through. So, at least we reconciled the situation, but our child had to suffer due to stupid parents!

Anyway, now to put the parents in a better light. We took her to the park this Saturday, and we put her in one of the baby swings, and although she looks a little bored or scared in the pictures I’m going to share, she actually enjoyed it. Daddy took her down the slide too. It was a nice day. We were good parents in that we put sunscreen on her too. Yeah for us!

She continues to explore the house. She’s gotten into some pretty interesting places. I try to get the camera for some of them before she panics and yells for help. She’s so funny. As all parents know, when you get a crawler in the house, you suddenly realize how extremely dirty your floors are! Those babies find EVERYTHING! They are racing through the house when they suddenly stop and start to pick something up and it goes straight to the mouth. It could be a speck of dirt, a crumb, grass, paper, a bug…the list goes on. Well, some of you may know that I’m not the best housekeeper in the world, but I’m definitely improving in the clean floor area. I even bought something new because I wasn’t happy with my current mechanism of cleaning. I bought this at Target, and I now use it daily, sometimes more! It’s great! I highly recommend them, especially if you have wood floors. Point two for good parents!

We don’t watch much TV in our house, especially since Abriella was born. We don’t even get cable. We do believe in this statement by the American Academy of Pediatrics that says that children under 2 should not watch TV. Really the only tv she has watched has been football or basketball. In the pictures below where she’s in a laundry basket, she was helping Daddy watch a basketball game the other night. She was pretty excited to do that! haha! At least she’s a sports fan! Point three for good parents! haha!

Ok, so enough trying to shed better light on our parenting skills. Onto the pictures! (remember you can click on the pictures to enlarge them, and then you can actually click them again to make them even bigger). Have a great day!

Hey no one is a perfect parent, and if that is the worst you do then you are in good shape. Anyway, Kenndall has started scooting around and I forgot the importance of clean floors till now. She likes eating everying!! Cooper has been walking so long it seems that I didn’t have to keep up as much, now I pretty much need to clean them every other day!!

And you are only beginning to know all the places she can get into! And the things that she can find and put in her mouth! She is such a little doll! I had wondered just a few days ago when she might get some more teeth–I’m glad that you figured out what was going on. Maybe all of you can get more rest!

When we have kids Aaron will purposely be putting things on the floor for the kid to put in his/her mouth so that it will “build it’s immune system”.

  4. Wow! I need to get one of those sweeper things! Cute pics!
