I Am Getting Old

I went like 11 years without antibiotics. I have since ended that streak in a big way! Since January of 2011, I have made numerous visits to different medical care providers and have been sliced, diced, extracted, medicated, etc etc. Recently, I went to the dermatologist for a follow-up visit. I had a red spot on my nose and had a mole removed 7 months earlier (it was supposed to be a 6 mos follow-up). Anyway, I figured it would be a quick visit since the red spot on my nose has faded some since Ridley was born, so maybe it is hormonally related. So, I figured I’d go in and be on my merry way quickly. Well, the dermatologist likes to look at my moles. Guess that’s what makes a dermatologist’s world go round! HA! I have a big one on my back. I rarely think about it, because, well, it’s on my back! I don’t know about you, but I don’t sit and look at my backside in the mirror very often. 🙂 Well, I had 3 moles right together (2 smaller ones with the big one) and they all had irregular borders. That is what concerned the Dr, so what did she do? She cut it out and sent it to pathology for a biopsy! I was not planning on being cut on that morning! She numbed my back up and went to town. One mole less and 3 stitches more, and I was out the door. Oh my. I honestly wasn’t really worried about the mole. Thankfully, it really wasn’t anything to worry about. The biopsy results came back negative!  Now, I still have a bit of a bumpy gnarly scar back there, but hopefully it will even out over time. I realized this was only the 2nd time in my life I’d had stitches anywhere on my body. The other time was a few months ago when I had a wisdom tooth removed. They put 1 stitch in my mouth for that. Fun.

My other trip to the doctor as of late was to the walk-in clinic on the Friday just preceding Mother’s Day. I had already diagnosed myself with mastitis, but needed some drugs to help me out!  I felt like I had the flu and I was hurting! I love that walk-in clinic. I was in and out within about 10 or 15 minutes! I always feel a bit guilty when they ask who my primary care provider is…uh, I don’t have one! Maybe I should think about getting one since I keep needing to make visits for various illnesses! So far, the walk-in clinic works great though! HA!

Here’s to hoping I stay healthy for a while. I do need to see about getting these 3 remaining wisdom teeth pulled though…
