Sweet Baby Girl Is Back!

So, our extra sweet baby girl is back! She’s now back to being her “pre-vaccine” self. The first week after getting her shots, she was fussy, and then this week, I think she’s been “punishing” us for allowing someone to stick her 4 times–we called her our “mad baby!” haha! Now, we don’t know if it had anything to do with the shots, or if it was just coincidental, but she’s back now! Now, during that 1 1/2 weeks, she still played and all that jazz, but she was just more irritable and “sensitive” as we like to put it. Even the littlest thing would set her off. But, she’s back to being all sweet again. She eats, plays, falls asleep, etc. Hardly cries at all. Much better!

She plays a lot! She’s so funny how she loves to look at herself in the mirror. She has recently discovered lights and fans on the ceilings too. She kicks her legs and waves her arms so much. It’s great fun watching her. She throws out so many smiles these days too! Those are so sweet! She loves the noises we make and you can tell she’s trying to make her own mouth do what ours are doing to make those noises. Before too long, she’s gonna figure it out and start making those crazy noises in church or somewhere we’d prefer her not too—somebody is liable to ask, “who taught you that?” and we’re sadly gonna have to admit that it was us! haha! Yesterday, she laughed out loud one time. Now, she laughs in her sleep, but she hasn’t really laughed while awake, but she did yesterday. It was cute. She’s doing really well at lifting her head up with her tummy time as well. I’m anxious to see when she’ll roll over for the first time. That will be fun to see.

She continues to sleep well at night. The last few nights, she goes for about 6-7 hrs and then “wakes up” for a “dream feed” where she eats for 4 or 5 minutes basically while sleeping, and she goes right back in her crib. I’m up and back in my bed in about 10 minutes. Then, she sleeps for another 3-4 hrs, which almost always ends up being somewhere between 7 and 8 in the morning. Then, she eats, gets a diaper change (I don’t change her in the middle of the night many times since she’s sleeping), and plays for a while, and then gets sleepy again. She usually sleeps for another 1-3 hrs (all depends on the day). Not too bad of a night schedule if I do say so myself, especially for a breastfed baby. I certainly can’t complain. I didn’t try to put her on a schedule either–she really did it all herself. Such a smart baby!

Last week, she got off her schedule a bit though. There were a couple of nights where she woke up at 2am, ate, and she stunk so much that I knew we needed a diaper change. Well, she decided then that it was time to play! The first night, I reswaddled her and spent the next 1/2 hr or so trying to get her to go back to sleep. The second night, I just decided not to fight it. I just stood there and watched her while she kicked her legs and waved her arms and smiled at me on her changing table for about 1/2 hour. Then, she was ready to go back to sleep. I figured we made it back to bed in the same amount of time if I fought it or if I just let her play. Granted, I don’t want her to get in the habit of playing in the middle of the night, but she has already corrected herself. Good baby!

She continues to get chunkier! Her fat rolls on her arms and legs are so cute! Daddy is proud. I’m hoping to give any of my fat rolls to her! haha! She’s been trying to help me out in that regard the last couple of nights. She decided that we needed to take her out in the jogging stroller. The first night, she fell asleep on the 3rd lap around the neighborhood and slept the final 2 laps. The 2nd night, we didn’t make it quite as long. Only made it 4 rounds before she decided she was done walking! But, pushing that stroller sure does make a difference for me! It’s good for me though. Daddy goes along to watch the baby’s expressions. She just seems so content in that stroller. I’m just waiting for it to get cooler so that we can go earlier in the day.

Well, I think that’s all for now. I am going to try to add some more pics today. Have a great weekend!
