Oh Man!

Sorry for not posting lately. I’m not lazy, I promise. Life has been busy as usual. I worked last Saturday and will be working this Saturday as well. I really do enjoy that time, and it’s great for Stephen to get a full day with Abriella. She loves it! I do miss her when I’m gone all day like that though. She wakes up after I leave and goes to bed before I get home. She actually talked to me on the phone last weekend though. It was so sweet.

She’s doing great these days. I have successfully gotten her to a 1pm naptime. I’m just going to leave it there for a while. She’s also to the point now that if she wakes up “too early” (i.e. crying, crying, crying), I can go and open her door and tell her to lay down and wake up when she’s happy. She lays right down and goes right back to sleep and wakes up happy! It’s great! She really needs a 2 hour nap to be the best, and she’s getting those every day right now. So, that makes us all happy.

She is getting more teeth. She’s cut one of her eye teeth for sure (bottom right). It’s difficult to tell if she’s cut any of the other 3 as she doesn’t really let us look to see. Those teeth take a long time to come in completely! They get bigger and bigger as they come through. Seems so painful!

She cracks us up with her talking these days. A new phrase she picked up last weekend while with Stephen was “oh man.” Stephen said it to her when she started squeezing some chapstick all over the place, and she picked up on it immediately. The funniest part is that she crinkles up her nose when she says it., which I can only assume Stephen did when he said it. We need to try to get it on video. Another thing that cracks us up is that she calls oatmeal “oatmeat.” Stephen has also taught her different phrases like “oh yeah!” and “alright!” She also says “there ya go” a lot which she apparently picked up from both of us.

She’s identifying several more letters as well. We’ve been working on differentiating between “x” and “k” because she called them both “x” and i think she’s getting it down now. She’s also starting to count and can go from 1-5 with a bit of prompting. We hadn’t done any counting before so she really surprised me when I started counting out loud one day for some reason and she started beating me to the next number. There are several number books we read, so I assume that’s where she picked it up.

On the baby Colby front, he (and I) seem to be growing just fine! The last few days, I’ve really started to feel like I’m expanding more rapidly. His movements are so different from when I was pregnant with Abriella. With her, I would feel her kick low for a week or so, and then high for a week or so, etc. With him, I feel him low, then on the side, then up high, all in a matter of hours! He’s quite a mover!! He’s so strong too! She was strong, but he seems stronger for this stage of pregnancy. A lot of that could be because of the location of the placenta this time. Nothing he does is cushioned, so it is a lot different! I’ve been able to watch my belly move with his movements lately too, which I really don’t think we could do with Abs for a while more. It’s wild how different two pregnancies can be.

I have a prenatal appointment tomorrow, so we’ll see how much my uterus (and my weight) has grown. I’ll be doing my glucose test soon too as I’m now just over 25 weeks. This pregnancy has gone by quickly! I’m starting to get a little stressed about all the things we need to do before he arrives. We plan on moving Abriella to a toddler bed next month in her new room (no more guest room…sorry!). Then, we’ll get the nursery fixed up for Colby. I have to order the bed for Abriella. I found one that goes from a toddler bed to a day bed to a full bed. I think that will be just perfect! I’m not going to really do her room up at this point since I don’t think she’ll care. I’m just going to keep her same sheets and what not, and then when she gets a bit older, I’ll get cute new bedding for her and decorate her room to go with that. I think that will be more fun for her.

Ok, I think I’m gonna close this down for now. I haven’t uploaded the latest pictures to the computer yet, so you’ll have to just read this boring pictureless post! Sorry!

It sounds like she is at a really fun age! I love “oatmeat.” How exciting to get the nursery ready for baby Colby. I think she will enjoy her big girl bed and maybe keeping the same bedding she has will help her feel more comfortable. Wow I can still remember the first time you brought her to church and now she’s going to sleep in a toddler bed. Crazy!

Ah, she is growing so fast! Wish I could be there to see her!

“Oh, man,” those eye teeth are so hard. I bet you’ll be glad when they all arrive. I sure hope she has forgiven me and won’t be scared of the “Mean Spanking Lady” in the nursery this week!

Thanks for the news flashes on the homefront! Gosh, I can’t believe she’ll be moving to a “BIG GIRL” bed ALREADY!!!! Doesn’t seem possible. Also, I love the sayings…”there ya go” sounds just like you Jennifer!

What have you decided to do in Colby’s room?

    HUGS 🙂
