Colby 5 Months Trivia

So, here is the stuff for my “baby book.” Here is the list of what Colby has been up to the last month.

* I can sit in tripod position. I will eventually tip over, but I can sit for a few minutes sometimes.

* I love to stand up! So, anyone can hold my hands or under my arms and I will stand and really have fun! I do enjoy my exersaucer still. The jumperoo has come out too, but I’m not sure I like that yet.

* I can get up on my knees and I can push up really well. If I can coordinate those two, I’ll be crawling! I do manage to move around though even without actual crawling.

* I still love to “talk.”

* I think it’s so funny when Mommy dresses or undresses me. It cracks me up everytime!

* I am super ticklish on my fat thighs.

* I still have one of the sweetest smiles (or so my mom says!).

* I’m wearing mostly 6-9 or 6-12 months clothes! Mommy is not super pleased with how quickly I’m moving through these sizes! She says she’s going to go broke trying to keep me clothed! HA!

* I can wear size 3 or size 4 disposable diapers. In cloth, I wear med or large, depending on the brand.

* Mom found out that I don’t do well at sleeping in the car (which she suspected). On our big trip to see Grandparents and Great-Grandparents, I slept very little on the rides. For example, on the first 12 hr trip, I slept a total of 2 hours (2 x 30 min naps and 1 x 1 hr nap!)! Yep, that’s it! That made for some unhappy times for all! What can I say—I like to be in a bed!?

* I made the longest trip to date for me this month (total of about 1600 miles). I made a trip to Arkansas to meet my Little Grandma, Grandma Jean, and Great Grandpa Miller. I also met my Great Uncle Jerry and Great Aunt Terri. I also met my Great Aunt Cheryl. Of course, I saw my Grandma too in my Mommy’s hometown. I slept a lot while at the homes as I was desperately trying to catch up on sleep between car rides. So, everyone saw a well-rested Colby for a day or two.

* I think it’s pretty funny to roll over in my bed ALL THE TIME! It could be while I’m supposed to be napping, or even when I’m supposed to be sleeping at night! I laugh every time someone comes in to find me on my back! I suppose I could try harder to roll back to my tummy, but I think it’s more fun to call for help at this point in time! But, I will talk for a long time on my back before I start to “yell” for help.

* While on our big trip, I thought it would be pretty funny to wake up every 2-3 hrs most nights we were gone. Mommy did not find that too thrilling, but I took advantage of the fact that she wouldn’t let me cry forever at a guest’s house! Aren’t I smart?! She’s hunkered down on me again since we got home though, and she only comes to see me a couple of times a night. What a party pooper!

* I am now on a good 9 and 1 nap schedule. I decided to do that the day I turned 5 months old, which also happened to be the day after we got home. See, I am a good boy! I usually sleep about 3 hrs for each nap. If my 2nd nap is short, I sometimes take a quick 3rd nap to get me closer to bedtime. Mom is happy that I actually will take predictable naps, as apparently big sister did not (which Mom admits was probably her fault in many ways).

* I am starting to find big sister a bit more interesting. I will watch her and smile at her in the car, and also when she comes to lay beside me on the playmat. Maybe we’ll be friends one day, although I heard her say one day, “I don’t like him.” But, daddy told her, “That’s ok. I don’t think she likes you either!” (HA!!)

* Still love to chew on my hands or anybody else’s hands for that matter. I don’t have any teeth yet, but the way I REALLY gnaw and bite down on things leads some to believe that maybe my gums are hurting and early phases of teething have begun. Mom is in no hurry for me to have teeth!

* I do well in Bible class at church. They agree that I’m a good baby!

* I am quite the growing boy. Mommy guesses I’ll be around 19 pounds by 6 months. We’ll see. I still only eat Mommy’s milk.  That’s what I like, and clearly, I’m thriving!

Well, I guess that’s about all for this month. Colby, you are such a sweet baby! Mommy and Daddy are glad to have 1 child that is more laid back! We love you so much! I can’t believe you’re going to be 1/2 year old in a few short weeks!! Stop growing so fast!!

  1. Mom/Grandma says:

Colby is his grandma’s favorite grandson–at least while he is the only one! What is a 9 and 1 nap schedule? Missing both of my grandbabies!
