Latest Baby Happenings

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while–lots of things going on. So, Abriella is approaching 4 months. We will take her for her 4 month appointment on Friday. I’m not looking forward to the next set of shots. She hates them! Hopefully, she won’t be as fussy after this round. One can only hope.

We think we are going to have a thumb sucker on our hands. She found her hands a few weeks ago and sucks on them and sticks them so far in her mouth that she gags herself. Silly baby! But, this week she has started to successfully isolate her thumb to suck on. It’s really quite cute. She won’t take a pacifier 99 % of the time, so I guess this will be our alternative. Unfortunately, you can’t take their thumb away in the long run. I guess I turned out ok though. I was a thumb sucker. We shall see.

She is getting very close to turning from her back to her tummy. She has gotten so far as leaning towards her tummy with her upper leg leaning on the floor in front of her….but then she flips back to her back. She’s so close! So, I’m fairly certain she will roll this way first instead of the supposed typical first way of going from tummy to back. She still is not fond of tummy time, but she is looking like she is wiggling more to go towards that roll as well sometimes. She definitely pushes up on her hands better than she did before. But, sometimes, she’s getting those knees bent up under her a bit and pushing her body a bit sideways—the starting point for a roll. So, we’ll see and hopefully, when she does either one of them, we will get it on tape!

She continues to talk up a storm. It’s pretty funny and very cute indeed! She is also definitely into the world around her more and more. She’s so much into it that she doesn’t always eat well during the day because she wants to look around instead. So, I think that is what caused her to do some night waking this last week, so she could catch up on her feeds. Mommy isn’t so fond of that, but she hasn’t done it the last couple of nights, so hopefully, she won’t make a new habit of it!

So, she apparently is a momma’s girl. One night, I had a game night with the girls at church–we do this once a month. So, I left her with daddy, and he informed me later that she basically cried herself to sleep that night, which she never does! He said it was obvious she wanted mommy to put her to bed! Poor baby! The next night, she didn’t go to sleep the time she normally does, which is usually before I go walking with Amanda. However, it appeared she was close, so I swaddled her up and daddy was going to finish putting her to bed (as he has done many times). Well, there was a bottle of pumped milk that I told him that he could feed her if she absolutely wanted another feeding, but neither one of us figured she’d eat anymore. Well, when I got home from walking, I walk in to see Stephen walking around with Abriella. She wasn’t upset or anything, but apparently, she refused to go to sleep another night without mommy! She had taken the whole bottle, but that didn’t do the trick. She was waiting patiently for me to get home. Crazy girl! But, she went to sleep shortly thereafter when mommy put her to bed!

Ah, last week was Halloween. If you’ve already seen our pictures, you’ve seen that Abriella was our cute little elephant. She didn’t care too much for the costume, mostly because we think she couldn’t move her legs around as much with that bunting costume. But, she was one cute elephant all the same! And, she was NOT DUMBO!! We didn’t actually take her Trick or Treating. Our Young Marrieds group had a party on Monday night that we took her to, and then the church hosted a Funival for the entire community on actual Halloween, so we made an appearance there as well. She never would smile while she was in that costume though. haha! That was obviously her way of telling us she wasn’t thrilled with the situation.

Well, I think I should quit babbling now. Just wanted to update a little on the latest in the Joynerzone! Enjoy.

P.S. WELL, I HAD POSTED THIS AND THEN WE HAD COMPUTER DIFFICULTIES. WE PLACED ABRIELLA ON HER TUMMY FOR HER DREADED TUMMY TIME, AND SHE ROLLED OVER LIKE IT WAS NOTHING!!!! SHE’S NEVER SHOWN ANY INTEREST OR REALLY BEEN CLOSE AT ALL. IT WAS WILD! BUT, STEPHEN AND I CHEERED SO LOUDLY THAT IT SCARED HER AND SHE STARTED CRYING, SO SHE MAY NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!! HAHA!
